Humble Beginnings

So here it goes.  I'm spending my last few days in the States packing, organizing my life, and mentally preparing for the adventures ahead.  I can't believe it's almost here!  Ever since I received my acceptance letter that fateful day in April, I've been trying to imagine what the upcoming year would be like.  But this Friday, I will be boarding a 14-hour flight to Korea, a place that seems so foreign, yet to which I am intimately tied.

Once I land in Incheon Airport, likely disoriented due to extreme jet-lag, I will be bused off to Jungwon University in Goesan, Chungcheongbuk-do.  There, I will reside for 6 weeks for intensive cultural and language training alongside my Fulbright peers.  At the end of Orientation, I will learn of my school placement and move in with a lovely Korean host family.

I am leaving behind so many people that I care deeply about; people who have never doubted my abilities and will surely root for me every step of the way.  It is my hope to live up to their high expectations and make them proud.  This blog will be my primary way of sharing my experiences and photos, while entertaining them with my amusing stories and sheer wit.

Alright, I should prob go and continue squeezing my minimalist chic wardrobe into two suitcases.  The idea of cutting down my glorious shoe collection is quite unpleasant, but I am so excited to start this new chapter of my life.
