It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Xmas

So yesterday, we had the first snow of the year.  It was only a few flurries but my students went absolutely wild.  As soon as the 5th period bell rang, one student looked outside and screamed "SNOWWW!"  Immediately, all the students rushed to the windows and then bolted outside.  Despite the fact that the temperature was in the mid-30s and it was bitter cold, they didn't hesitate to start dancing and cheering.  Thanks to my nifty smart phone, I managed to capture this magical moment.

These were the first responders to the scene.

Look at all the students, who were willing to brave the cold and celebrate the winter season!  Also, notice their not-so-brave friends peering out the windows and watching the snow from the comfort of their toasty classrooms.

"I LIKE SNOW!!!"

Students from Homeroom 6 jumped out of the window and onto the outdoor balcony to have an impromptu photo shoot.

Students from Homerooms 7 and 8 went outside and joined hands for some celebratory singing and dancing.  Look how cute they are!!

And then, they rioted.  Hahaha!  My girls are little animals!

After a few minutes, they spotted me taping them from the second floor window.  They all started waving and my heart melted a little bit, especially when one student shouted "Thank you so much!"

All of this occurred in a matter of 10 minutes, between 5th and 6th period.  Soon after, they were back in their classrooms, studying diligently like nothing had happened.  It's a crazy time of year for my students.  They are so stressed and busy studying for final exams.  It was nice to see them actually laughing and running, with huge smiles on their faces.  It was an unexpected surprise and a great way to end the emotional week.
